The luggage limit allowance differ and are dependent on the length of your assignment.

Assignment less than 1 year: your luggage allowance will correspond to luggage allowance and restrictions of the airline you will fly. Before any travel, verify with the airline(s) the luggage allowance for each part of your flight itinerary. If the carrier allows 2 pieces up to 50 lbs (23 kg), you can use them but any additional charges – for extra bags, for extra lbs (kgs) or for transporting over-sized or fragile items remain your responsibility.

Assignments for 1 year or more: All Action Against Hunger-USA employees whose contracts are for a term of 12 months or longer, receive a luggage allowance of 2 pieces, up to 50 lbs (23 kg) per piece. If the luggage allowance of te airline you are flying to your  country of assignment only allows for one piece of luggage then Action Against Hunger-USA will cover the cost of 1 additional piece of luggage, to a maximum of $200.00 to the field, together with a maximum of $200.00 returning from the field.

Freight costs for any additional bags or weight allowances must be paid by you and are not the responsibility of Action Against Hunger-USA. This is not a cumulative allowance (i.e if the full luggage allowance is not used going to the mission the unused portion will not be added to the return allowance).

Employees with accompanied status: AAH-USA will pay shipping costs to a maximum $200.00 for additional luggage per child and spouse at both the beginning of an accompanied employee’s assignment and on their return to their authorized home location. This is in addition to each person’s normal airline luggage allowance, which should be used in full before the additional luggage allowance. (NB: this is not a cumulative allowance - if full luggage allowance is not used going to the mission the unused portion will not be added to the return allowance).
